Valaska Sherra Henry was born on March 12, 1965 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Louise Carpenter and Samuel Lee Henry. She departed her earthly life on Friday, February 15, 2008. She grew up and attended the public schools in Winston-Salem, NC. Valaska was a graduate of West Forsyth High School class of 1983. She attended Forsyth Technical Community College and was employed at Forsyth Medical Center and the Winston-Salem/ Forsyth County Public Schools.

She leaves to cherish her memories a son, Lamonte Henry; a daughter, Sherika Henry; a loving sister, Samelle Henry Nesbit (Londell); three grandchildren, Jaquez Sims, Ja'quan Sims-Henry, and Tyshawn Campbell; a nephew, Javon Henry; one niece, Shequoina Henry; one great-niece, Jamiah Henry; one maternal aunt, Mozell Caldwell (James); two paternal aunts, Willie Mae Kirby and Beverly McMillan (Calvin); three paternal uncles, Felix Henry, Fred Henry (Carol) and Charles Henry; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Noon Wednesday, February 20, 2007 from the Ministry for Christ Church with Pastor Andrea Nash officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until Noon on Wednesday at the Church.
