Tyrone "Wayne" George, beloved son of the late Mildred Friday George and Eddie George, Sr., passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at the age of 70. He was born on February 13, 1955, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he spent most of his life surrounded by family, friends, and the familiar comforts of home.
After college, Wayne began his working career at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, where he remained a dedicated employee until his retirement. He was a lifelong collector of baseball cards and sports memorabilia finding joy and nostalgia in preserving the history of the game he loved. He also had a deep affection for animals, especially the neighborhood cats, whom he looked after with kindness and consistency. Above all, Wayne was a devoted son who cared selflessly for his mother, Mildred, until her passing. His dedication to her was a true reflection of his character.
Wayne is survived by his sister, Patricia George Gary; his brother, Eddie George Jr., both of Winston-Salem; his aunt, Adelaide Talbert of Midway, North Carolina; and a host of other family members. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and generosity that will be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
A private memorial will be held in his honor. Those wishing to pay tribute are encouraged to donate to a local animal shelter in Wayne's memory, in recognition of his lifelong kindness to animals.
May he rest in peace, reunited with those he loved.
