Mr. Travis Allen Gambrell, 18 of 217 Sedge Meadow Drive, Winston-Salem, NC departed this earthly life for eternal life Monday, May 12, 2008, to be in the presence of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
He was born July 5, 1989 to Contina Gambrell and Nathaniel Chiles. Gambrell commended his spirit into The Master's Hands after several years of declining health. As a young child before his illness, Gambrell attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools at South Fork Elementary School. After his illness Gambrell received home-schooling through private tutors.
He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Contina Gambrell and father, Nathaniel Chiles; brothers, Shawn, Reginald, and Christian Gambrell, Anthony Porter, and NaShawn Chiles; sisters, Shaneca Gambrell and Ariel Chiles; maternal grandmother, Roxie Gambrell Brantley and great-grandmother, Marie B. Gambrell both of Winston-Salem, NC; paternal grandparents, Robert and Theresa M. Shelf of Kernersville, NC; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends and caregivers.
A homegoing celebration will be held at 11am Saturday, May 24, 2008 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop John Parks officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The Gambrell/Chiles/Shelf family will receive friends during the family visitation from 10am until 11am on Saturday at the Chapel.
The family will assemble and leave from the home of Willie and Ola Ashford, 1113 George Black Lane. Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
The Gambrell/Chiles/Shelf family wishes to thank all the staff, nurses, and caregivers from the various medical facilities/agencies who assisted in the care of Travis.
