Tony Vincent Conner was born October 28, 1963 in Winston Salem, NC to Robert L. and Elizabeth R. Conner. After a brief illness, Tony quietly passed away on December 8, 2025 at the young age of 62. Up until the end, Tony expressed how grateful he was to have lived a life full of wonderful experiences. Tony is survived by his loving wife, Erma B. Conner, of the home, his mother Elizabeth Rue Conner, of Winston Salem, NC; a daughter, Dominique F. Conner of Raleigh, NC; and a brother, Barry D. Conner and wife, Miyon of Winston Salem, NC; two sisters, Beverly Ricks of New York City, NY and Pam Penn of Winston Salem, NC. His father Robert L. Conner and brothers Gary F. Conner and Christopher C. Conner preceded him in death. Tony leaves behind a host of relatives, friends and family that will miss him.
Tony graduated from Carver High School in 1981. Shortly thereafter he joined the US Army where he attained the rank of E4 and served as a Food Service Specialist for 3 years. He then obtained a certificate in Welding from Forsyth Tech.
Tony had many interests and several professions throughout his life. He had a big heart and when able would always contribute to St Jude's Children's Hospital.
Tony loved all sports and was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. Some of his greatest joys were cooking and "cutting his grass" even as it started to get dark outside. He enjoyed traveling and often talked about living in Florida. He had a beautiful voice and loved to sing and play his music, especially jazz. Many days he got caught driving in the neighborhood and forgetting to turn his music down before he got home.
Since residing in North Wilkesboro, he worked for a time with the Wilkes County School System and the Winston Salem Transit Authority until finally finding his home at Winston Sanitation where he gained many wonderful friends.
Tony left us much too soon and he will be sorely missed by so many that loved him.
Tony, We Wish You "Much, Much, Love and God Speed"
