Mr. Tommy L. Gary, Sr., "KoKo", loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and loyal friend too many, went home to be with the Lord on October 4, 2013. He was born on September 29, 1939 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late James and Alberta Gary.



He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillie Butler Gary; son, Tommy L. Gary, Jr.; siblings, Francis, James Daniel, Franklin, Marcus, and Rachel; and his brother-in-law, Sam Brimage.



He is survived by his children, Vanessa Long, Pamela Gary, Angela Gary, Crystal (Tony) Melvin, Beverly (Leroy) Simpson of Durham, NC, Deborah Gary, and Michael (Teresa) Gary; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; siblings, Martha Jean Brimage, Ernest (Pat) Gary, and Ernestine Fletcher all of the city; and a host of many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.



Homecoming services will be held at 12noon Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Ephesus Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Godwin R. Mitchell, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
