Mr. Timothy Murrell Thompson, age 74, was born on Tuesday, January 1, 1952, in Winston-Salem, NC, the 9th son born to John and Ruth Thompson. He departed this earthly life on August 1, 2026. He attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System and attended Norfolk State University. He was a caregiver and served his clients with professionalism and dignity. 

At Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Tim was selected as the 2026 Member of the Year for the church’s 106 Year Anniversary. He served in the following capacities: Male Chorus, Vocal Choir, Past Chairman of the Men’s Day Committee, the Kitchen Committee, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Programs. He also planted and maintained the beautiful landscape of the church’s flowers.

Timothy was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Patterson Thompson of Lithonia, GA; his devoted daughter and caregiver, Sherita (Lucius) Hicks; grandchildren, Shaquasha D. Hicks, Shayanna L. Hicks, Khamari K. Belin and Khaliq Q. Belin; great-grandchildren, Jayden D. Martin, Emerald S.E. Hicks, and Nehemiah Mitchell; his devoted brother, Deacon Harold Thompson; his close friend and brother, Severius “Rick” Higginbotham and children, Severus and Shawanna Hicks and Shervae Higginbotham; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, August 14, 2026 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:00pm Saturday at the Church. Interment will be held at 10:00am Monday, August 17, 2026 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
