Obituary

"Once in a lifetime you find someone who touches not only your understanding but also your soul."
Mrs. Thomesina Graves Woods of 5108 N. Cherry Street Winston-Salem, NC entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 1, 2009. The breath of life was given to Thomesina on December 5, 1937 in Marion, SC to Abraham and Addie Graves.
She was a faithful member of Antioch Christian Church where she rejoiced unto the Lord and loved to sing. She was a member of the Mass Choir, Nurses Board, and Usher Board. She was a member of the Easter Star Mer. # 308. She was well known in her community as an outgoing and friendly person. She was up-beat and positive at all times.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mayzell Moody and Elretta Robinson; and two brothers, Dennis Graves and Aaron Graves.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 54 years, Tom Woods of the home; two daughters, Ealrease Goodyear and Betty Turner both of Winston-Salem, NC; two sons, Bryant (Cristy) Johnson of Jacksonville, FL and Robert Goodyear of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Alfred James, Jimmy James, Sumintra James, and Tammy (Darryl) Miller; one great-granddaughter, Nu'Jay James; three great-grandsons who have a special place in her heart, Jeremiah, Joshua, and Rayvon Squire; three sisters, Gladys (Ronald) Gause of Albany, NY, Rose Graves and Joyce (Stan) Barr both of Marion, SC; three brothers, Donnie (Della) Graves of Marion, SC, Bishop (Dot) Graves of Columbia, SC, and Willow Graves of Albany, NY; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Graves of Philadelphia, PA; her caregiver, Bobby Fisher; and a host of other relatives and friends
Funeral services will be held at Noon Monday, July 6, 2009 at Antioch Christian Church with Pastor James Gilliam officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until Noon on Monday at the Church.
