Thomas Edward Woods Sr., 66, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2012. He was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on September 8, 1945 to the late Booker and Annie Bell Woods. Surviving are his wife Barbara Woods of 46 wonderful years and two children, Jerryeen Daniels (Willie) and Thomas Edward Woods II (Marcia) and four grandchildren, Mikayla Woods, Savannah Woods, Jaden Woods and Kasey Chandler. Preceded in death by one sister, Pearlie Mae Doyle, he also leaves behind nine brothers and sisters, Elijah Woods, Moses Woods, Willa Lewis, Booker Woods Jr., William Woods, Ethel Fitzpatrick, Clarence Woods, James Woods and Richard Woods as well as one half-sister Rosa Pearl Harris and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. The loves of his life were his family and friends and his unshakeable faith in God. He always had a passion for helping those in need, giving sound advice and encouraging them in the Lord.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30am Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1075 Shalimar Drive in Winston-Salem, NC. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family will receive friends from 11am until 11:30am on Tuesday at the Church.
