Reverend Thomas White, Jr., 82, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Thomas White, Jr. was born in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Thomas and Malinda White. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy G. White.

Thomas leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Dorothy White; daughter, Gloria (Michael) Kimbrough; son, Shanthony Moss, both of Winston-Salem, NC; three grandchildren, Timothy Grimes, Melissa Kimbrough, and Samuel Howard; two great grandchildren, Danielle Kimbrough and Derrick Kimbrough; one sister, Rosa Lee Beatty of Charlotte, NC; a devoted niece, Aldine (Otis) Rucker; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Thomas graduated from Plato Price High School in Charlotte, NC and attended Vintage Bible College, Winston-Salem, NC. He retired as Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army after 31 years of service. He was the first black driver for Roadway Trucking Company. He retired after 29 years of employment and received many safety awards.

Thomas White received his call into the ministry and was a member of the ministerial staff at First Waughtown Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, NC under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Dennis Bishop, Pastor.

A viewing will be held from 2:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, October 16, 2020 at Russell Funeral Home.

Private funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020 with Pastor Dennis Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
