Mr. Thomas J. Humphrey, 82 passed away Wednesday evening, September 8, 2010 at his residence.
"Big Tom" as he was affectionately known, was born on March 5, 1928 to Roosevelt Humphrey and Mary France. He had a passion for fancy hats, big cars, and his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Lawarna Plater.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Susie S. Humphrey; a son, Thomas J. Humphrey, II (Lucero); a step-son, Earnest Schoefield; three step-daughters, Susan S. Hodges (Samuel), Mary Schoefield, and Barbara Schoefield; three grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Garner; and a host of nieces, nephews , other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1pm Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the Church of Philadelphia, 1711 N. Cleveland Ave. W-S, NC 27105 with Pastor Samuel Clemmons officiating. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Tuesday at the Church.
