On Friday, August 5, 2011, Thomas F. Harris of 1519 Pleasant Street passed peacefully into eternal rest with his family by his side.
He was born in Anson County, NC to the late C. Threadgill and Lucy Hawkins.
Mr. Harris was educated in the Anson County public school system. Upon graduating high school, he served in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged as CPL Thomas F. Harris in 1960. He began studies at Winston-Salem State University. He completed studies at Russell Business School. He was employed with the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center as a Nursing Assistant until he became a self-employed accountant. Mr. Harris was a faithful member of Solid Rock Baptist Church where he served in many facets of ministry including, Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, and Trustee.
Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Harris.
Surviving to cherish his memories are his four daughters, Kristen H. Tucker (Anthony) and Kelly Kellum (Anthony) both of Winston-Salem, NC, Kimberly Allen (Donnell) of Florida, and Karen Cole of Arkansas; one sister, Bronnie H. Daniels of Winston-Salem, NC; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and devoted friends including his church family.
A homegoing celebration for Thomas Harris will be held at 12noon Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Solid Rock Baptist Church with Reverend Charles Leak officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
The family will receive friends at the home of Thomas Harris throughout the week.
