Mr. Thomas Jerry Duke, Sr., of 2423 Pickford Ct, passed away September 2, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Duke was born in Picken, SC on March 5, 1931 to Gainwell and Inez Duke. He came to Winston-Salem in 1954, work for Volvo White Trucking Company for 41 years and was a veteran of the US Army.

Preceding Mr. Duke in death was his father, Gainwell Duke, his mother, Inez Smith Duke; four brothers, Paul Duke, Nathen Duke, and Freeman Duke; and his son, Thomas Duke, Jr.

Mr. Duke is survived by his wife, Hilda S. Duke of the home; two daughters, Patrica Duke of the home and Melinda Duke Martin of Winston-Salem, NC; two granddaughters, Toccara Martin of Atlanta, GA. and Jewel Alexandria Duke of Winston-Salem, NC; one great grand, Staci Lynn Washington of Atlanta, GA; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Bethlehem Baptist Church where the Rev. Dwight Hash, S r. will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 12:30 pm until 1 pm Saturday at the church.
