Thomas "Tommy" Auzenne Armstrong was born on January 6, 1950 to Warren Armstrong, Sr. and the late Grace Tidline Armstrong. He departed to his eternal home on Wednesday, October 17, 2012.
"Tommy" grew up in Yadkin County, where he graduated from Starmount High School. He joined the US Marine Corps in 1969, and later worked as a Police Officer in Greensboro, NC, while completing his undergraduate degree at Guilford College. He completed Law School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, earning his Juris Doctorate. He joined the FBI in 1980, as a Special Agent. He later worked for Crum & Forster Insurance Company as a fraudulent claims investigator.
He is survived by siblings, Warren Armstrong, Jr., Sarah Puryear, and Delores (Paulette) Stimpson; his former wife, Karen Shuler; and special friend, Loretta Hart; his passion for education and love for Christ extended to his children, Brad Armstrong, LaFonda Keels, Tracil Armstrong and Shelby Hart-Armstrong; his memory is cherished by his uncle & aunts, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, cousins, in-laws and friends.
The celebration of "Tommy's" life will be held at 11am Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel, 822 Carl Russell Avenue Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11am on Wednesday at the funeral home.
