Winston-Salem, NC-Theodore "Ted" Ivy McClennon departed this life on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at his home. He was born December 30, 1926 in Winston-Salem, NC to John and Theola McClennon. He was a graduate of Atkins High School Class of 1944.
Theodore served in the United States Army after which he attended Winston-Salem Teachers College, now known as Winston-Salem State University. He was a retiree of the ABC Board after 37 years of service. He was a faithful and devoted member of the United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church until his failing health. He was a member of the Senior Usher Board, the General Fellowship Club, and the Montrose Avenue Community Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, John Irvin McClennon.
He leaves to cherish loving memories his devoted cousins, Vera J. Johnson and Shirley P. Bishop of Winston-Salem, NC, Hansel (Leatha) Johnson of Sacramento, CA, Henry (Evelyn) Johnson, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA, and Candace Bishop of Atlanta, GA; two devoted caregivers, Edward Allen and Beverly Cook both of Winston-Salem, NC; and other special family and many friends.
His giving heart would warm others, his vibrant personality would cheer all, and his generosity would be shared by most.
Funeral services will be held at 12Noon Thursday, May 7, 2009 from the United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Prince Raney Rivers officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12Noon on Thursday at the Church.
