Mrs. Thelia Mae Saxon was born to Huley C. and Edzina Ferrell on March 18, 1940 in Pineland, South Carolina. Thelia was preceded in death by her parents; and six siblings, Evelyn Wright of Tillman, South Carolina, Marvette Ferrell of Pineland, South Carolina, Roosevelt Ferrell of Pineland, South Carolina, Theresa Cody of Savannah, Georgia, Mercedes (Otis) Baize of Queens, NY and Elkey Foster of Brooklyn, New York.
Thelia grew up attending Good Hope Baptist Church in Pineland, South Carolina. After relocating to Winston-Salem, NC she became a member of First Calvary Baptist Church where she served on the Missionary Board and worked with the Children's ministry.
Thelia retired from Reynolds American, Inc (formerly RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co.) with 28 years of service.
Thelia leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, a loving husband, Henry Saxon; three daughters, Wanda Carr of Winston-Salem, Tonya Saxon of Ellenwood, GA , and Tarsha Saxon of Winston-Salem; two sons, Kenneth (Carolyn) Bolden of Pineland, South Carolina and Craig (Selena) Saxon of Winston-Salem; three granddaughters, Kasey Saxon, Cheyenne Byers and Kayla Bolden; three grandsons, Kendall Bolden, Caleb Saxon and Kai Bolden; great grands, Kendall Bolden Jr., Khemari Rucker, Kristian Marcel Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at First Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Derwin Montgomery officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00am Thursday, May 19, 2022 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
