On Monday September 23, 2024, our precious daughter and sister peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home surrounded by family and friends following a brief illness. Ms. TeNisha D. Fields was born on September 27, 1979, to George R. Fields and the late Odessa Y. Fields in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was educated in the Winston- Salem/ Forsyth County Public School System, and was a graduate of East Forsyth High School - Class of 1999 where she participated in the following organizations: Caprice - Honors Choir, Gospel Choir, Madrigals- Mixed Honors Chorus and Theater.
TeNisha was a nurturer, giver, encourager and prayer warrior. To support sharing her gifts professionally, she furthered her educational aspirations at Winston-Salem State University and pursued a degree in Religious Studies at Lancaster Theological Seminary in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Her early employment was at The Little Red School House in WS, NC where she applied her passion for educating and inspiring children. TeNisha eventually worked at Atrium Health formerly Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where she bonded with and prayed for many families and their babies. TeNisha extended her passion for nurturingthroughout the community and frequently invited people she barely knew to family dinners. TeNisha applied her passion for caregiving through employment with Exceptional FamilySupport and by working in several group homes.
TeNisha accepted Christ at a young age and was a life-long member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she maintained active membership until her recent illness. She used her gifts and talents in the following ministries over the years:Emmanuelettes (Tot Choir), Sunday School, Youth Missionaries, Young Adult Missionaries, Young Adult Choir, EmmanuelEnsemble, EBC Mass Choir, Youth Liturgical Dancers, Vacation Bible School Teacher and Sunday School.
Ms. Fields also used her gifts to impact the community by serving as a Praise Dance Instructor with Positive Images Performing Arts (PIPA) for 10 years and a Certified Foster Parent. In 2019, she co-led a Prayer Vigil for protecting African American Men and Families
She was preceded in death by her mother; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Elizabeth Fields; maternal grandparents, Mack and Geraldine Acker; and Godparents, Ranson L. Brown & Nancy Conner Brown and June Fogle.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving father, George Fields; her devoted brothers, Toney Fields, Derrick Fields, Terry (Wanda) Fields, D'won Fields, and DeQuincy (Russchell) Fields; her beloved nephews and nieces, Quinten Kelly, DeQuincy Burton, Darren Fields, Brittany Fields, Justin Fields, and Erica Fields; her former foster daughter, Hailey Bailey; her God-siblings, Druscilla Fogle, Robin Crawley (Greg), Sharon Fogle, and Franklyn Fogle, Jr.(O'Della); her precious God-children, Kendall 'KJ' Woody, Jr.and Kairo Wallace Chann; a devoted cousin, Deborah Snipes; an endeared friend, Anthony Edmond; a special sister-circle of friends, Cheryl Connor, Porsha Cates, Danyetta Jackson, Durrette Ofosu and Kita Wallace Chann; as well as a host of family and friends to cherish special memories.
Memorial services will be held at 12noon Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Herbert Miller officiating. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Church.
