On Tuesday, February 8, 2022, Taylor Miller, Jr., affectionately known as "Bro" to his family and "Miller" to his friends, departed this earthly life and entered into eternity. Taylor was born in Winston-Salem, NC on June 11, 1943 to the late Taylor Cherry Miller, Sr. and Helen Hunt Miller.
Taylor was a graduate of Atkins High School and was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart as he was honorably discharged and medically retired from the US Army on February 1, 1971 after serving in the Vietnam War. For a short time prior to joining the military, Taylor was a semi-professional baseball player for the negro league. He was also a faithful and dedicated employee of RJ Reynolds for over 40 years.
Taylor was a calm and loving gentle soul who blessed everyone he was associated with. He had a sense of adventure and loved many hobbies which included boating, water skiing, jet skiing, and motorcycle riding, He was a big race car fan and enjoyed many races with friends. Taylor was also a fan of cars. He always had an amazing automobile collection that included his very first car, a 1969 Chevelle Super Sport.
Taylor was preceded in death by his brother, Curtis Miller; sisters, Deloris Mack, Gloria (Bobby, Sr.) Sharp, and Geraldine Jones.
Taylor leaves to cherish his precious memories with his wife, Mary Elizabeth Miller; his brother-in-law, Pastor Bobbie A. Jones, Sr.; sister-in-law, Gladys Miller; nieces, Valerie Jones, Sonya Mack, Helen (Robert) Harris, Christy Miller, and Katrina (Jason) Franklin; nephews, Bobby Sharp, Jr., Reggie Mack, Anthony (Tiffany) Jones, Curtis Miller, Mike Jones, and Bobby Jones, Jr.; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
There will be no public viewing. Private services will be held Friday, February 18, 2022. Interment will be held at 10:00am Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be made to the cancer foundation in his name.
