Miss Tatia Odette Brooks, 59, of Winston Salem, North Carolina, passed away on August 3, 2025, in her hometown. Born on July 7, 1966, in Winston Salem, Tatia was a proud native of the Happy Hill Gardens community. Her roots ran deep in the city she loved so dearly, and she carried that love with her throughout her life. A devoted and spiritual woman, Tatia's faith was central to her identity. She was very religious and active in church activities, always finding strength and purpose through her spirituality.
Tatia had a generous heart and a dependable spirit. Those who knew her could always count on her for support-whether it was a kind word, a helping hand, or simply being present when needed most. Her compassion extended to everyone around her, and she lived by example through acts of kindness and unwavering loyalty.
She had a passion for sports and especially enjoyed softball and basketball. Whether cheering from the sidelines or participating herself, Tatia brought energy and enthusiasm to every game. She also had an enduring love for all things Carolina— a reflection of her pride in where she came from.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph McManus; and brother, Charles Brooks
Tatia is survived by her loving daughter, Tatyana Brooks; cherished granddaughter Ty'jae Williams-Brooks; devoted mother, Lillie Mae Brooks; brothers, Richard Brooks, Michael Brooks, Joseph Brooks and Dathron Jones; and sister, Michelle Brooks; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her legacy of faith, generosity, and community spirit continue to inspire all who were touched by her presence.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday, August 11, 2025 at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Monday at the Church.
