Tanya Brown Dawkins, 60, was called home on January 17, 2023.
Tanya Brown Dawkins was born in Winston-Salem to Fred and Clara Brown on December 8, 1962. She graduated from East Forsyth High School and attended North Carolina A&T University.
She worked as an Authorizer for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for 7 years. Tanya was a dedicated mentor and was involved in several activities.
She was a loyal member of St. Peter's Church and World Outreach Center for 26 years under the esteemed pastoral leadership of Bishop James C. and Lady Joyce Hash. In addition, Tanya was a member of the Volunteer Ministry Check-In team, small group ministry, and former teacher in the Kid Zone Children's Ministry, the Wedding Guild, and countless other opportunities when needed.
Tanya is preceded in death by her father Deacon Fred Johnson Brown Sr., Mother Clara Wall Brown, and siblings; Fred Brown Jr., James Brown, Jake Brown, Magareen (Ernest) Wilkins, Aldean Harvey, Michael Isler and Mike Brown.
Tanya is survived by children Kenneth (Lucretia) Dawkins Jr., Kendall (Alissia) Dawkins, siblings; Willie Mae Stowe, Thelma Russell, Benjamin (Joyce) Brown, Sally (Robert) Bethea, Michael Brown, Ricky (Janice) Brown, Clevester Brown, Maxine Brown, and Cindy Isler, grandchildren, Jaylen, Zion, Zarah, Zephaniah, Zakkai, Aspen and Ava; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Friday, January 27, 2023 at St. Peter's Church and World Outreach Center. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Friday at the Church.
