Thursday, November 21, 2019, our love, Tammy Delores Edney, passed away peacefully. On that early morning we all felt left alone, yet our Father in Heaven was ready for his precious being to return home. God created a guardian angel on September 3, 1969, and placed her on this earth, today we release her back into the arms of our Creator.
Tammy affectionately known as " Tam Tam" was born to Delores Currence and the late Stephen Edney in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was nurtured and loved dearly by her father, the late Herman Currence Jr.
Tammy was cared for by Delores and Herman Currence until 1977. In 1977, she was enrolled into Horizons Residential Child Care Center, Inc. in Rural Hall, North Carolina. On December 13, 1990, Tammy made the transition to her home of almost 29 years Murdoch Developmental Center in Butner, North Carolina.
Tammy was born with cerebral palsy. Due to her medical condition she was non-mobile and unable to verbally communicate. However, throughout her 50 years of life Tammy touched so many with her charm and affectionate smile. She was a sweet, happy, lovable, and friendly person. Tammy had a gentle disposition and enlightened all that were in her presence. Tam Tam had a passion for music. She loved to listen to music whether it was being played, or her mother singing off key. She enjoyed outings on the bus to the movies, park, library, and circus with her Ridgeway and Alpine Cottage family. Tammy always enjoyed story time too. Her passion for life will continue to live on in all that had the opportunity to know and love her. Tammy's resilience has been an inspiration to many.
Tammy Delores Edney will always be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and patient.
She was preceded in death by her fathers, Stephen Edney and Herman Currence Jr.; her grandmother, Fredonia Pendergrass McGill; and her uncle, John Pendergrass.
Tammy's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her mother Delores Pendergrass Currence; her sisters, Melissa Currence and Patrice Hayes; her brothers, Kent Tolliver, Herman Currence III (Mildred), Dwight Currence, Patrick Currence, Jeffery Mark Currence (Yolanda), Jermaine Currence; her uncles, Tommy Taylor (Jacquelynia), Jerome Pendergrass (Elizabeth), Walter Taylor (Phyllis), and Leo Pendergrass (Terri); great-aunts, Sallie Gaines (Robert) and Theodora Davidson; great-uncles, Roger Pendergrass (Sarah) and George Pendergrass; a very special niece that was like a sister, Michelle Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Tammy was blessed with an extended loving family from Ridgeway Cottage and Alpine Cottage at Murdoch Developmental Center.
