Obituary

Mrs. Tamla Galloway Cuthrell, aka Tammie "Pink Gem" Cuthrell, was born August 2, 1966 and departed this life March 9, 2013. She was a life-long resident of W-S, NC and a life-long member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.

Tammie was employed with the Forsyth County Dept. of Social Services for over 14 years. She was the owner and operator of Honored Traditions. Her most recent venture was The Pink Gem Foundation which helps to support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and promotes breast cancer treatment and awareness. Being the business woman she was, Tammie worked tirelessly for this cause until her death.

Tammie graduated from East Forsyth High School in 1984 and earned her BA from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1996. Tammie married her sweetheart Aaron D. Cuthrell in November 1996.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, P. Thomas Scales and Dorena Scales; and her paternal grandparents, Alberta Galloway and Mary Brooks.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Aaron D. Cuthrell of the home; three sons, Rafael Coleman of the city, Maurice Coleman, II and Andrew Cuthrell both of the home; one granddaughter, Mariah Coleman of Greensboro, NC; parents, Robert and Rev. Parthenia Galloway of the city; mother-in-law, Pecolia Cuthrell; one brother, Anthony (LaTonya) Galloway of Advance, NC; three nieces, Alexis Wilkins of the city, Zoie and Sydney Galloway of Advance, NC; step-grandmother, Shirley Scales; two brothers-in-law, Anthony Cuthrell and Herman (Jacqueline) Cuthrell; three God-sisters, Kim Benson-Myers, Angela Lindsay, and D'Tonya Dean all of the city; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Homegoing services will be held at 12noon Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church with Evangelist Suvondra Montgomery eulogist. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
