Syvan Eldred Upson departed from this life on June 2, 2016. He was born on August 26, 1949 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his father, Neal Upson; his mother, Ellen Upson; and two sisters, Narvis and Katrina.

Syvan is survived by four sons, Johnathan, Jovon, Junior, and Jayden; two daughters, Cheryl and Charmaine; three brothers, Bernard, Milton (Angela), and Alphonse (Mary Ann); five sisters, Gloria, Fedrecia (Artis), Anita, Bernadine and Bernadette; his dear friend, Virginia Moore; several grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Tuesday at the Chapel.
