Sylvester Lowery, Jr. was born on January 12, 1955 to Sylvester Sr. and Gladys Lowery in Winston Salem, NC.  He departed  this earthly  life on Monday, August 8, 2022.

Sylvester attended the local public schools and graduated from Parkland Senior High School, the class of 1975. He was a retired employee of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co.  Sylvester enjoyed dancing and listening to music especially while sitting on the porch, taking in the breeze. He was a faithful fan of his beloved Pittsburg Steelers.

Sylvester was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and on occasion, visited Grace Church of Durham, pastored by his nephew, Dr. Kedrick T. Lowery.

Sylvester was proceeded in death by his parents; and sister, Janice Reich Tomlin.

He leaves to cherish most precious and unforgettable memories his wife, Janice Lowery of the home; children, Steven (Erica) Lowery and Scherrie Lowery; step-children, Rosetta (Sani) Sarki and Alvin (LaTasha) Johnson; grandchildren, Cyannah Lowery, Cydney Lowery, Steven Lowery Jr. and Rian Wolford; brothers, Calvin (Sandra) Morrison, Keith (Mozella) Lowery; sisters, Arneita (Raiford) Hairston, Linda Lowery, and Carolyn Lowery; brothers-in-law, Leroy and Earl Johnson; sisters-in-law, Rachele Pritchett and Catherine Johnson; beloved uncle, Edward Morrison; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; and lifelong friends, Frank, Emmanuel, Rick, Charles and Litheria.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Shiloh Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Wednesday at the Church.
