Mr. Sylvester Horn entered eternal rest on Thursday. June 12, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Mr. Horn was a 1965 graduate of Paisley High School and played the loving sport of his heart, basketball. His outstanding skills took Paisley High School to the N.C. State Championship Games in 1963. Sylvester was named Outstanding Player of the Year during his basketball tenure. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 40 years of service. Sylvester received the Perfect Attendance Award for more than four years. Sylvester was a member of Union Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Brice and Mary Hayes Horn; a sister, Mary Horn Jones; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Horn.

Mr. Horn is survived by his beloved wife, Rowilla Horn; two sons, Leonardo and Fernando Horn; one daughter, Andrâ (Theodore)Ackers; a God daughter, Eleanor Nupie Jackson; daughter-in-law, Tanya Horn; granddaughters, Lanika Horn and Kendyl Handsome; grandsons, Chris Alexander, Jordan Horn, and Jayden Scales; one great-granddaughter, Jayla Handsome; two brothers, Fred and Cleon (Veronica); two sisters, Dorothy (Bill) Woods and Carolyn (James) Eaton; sisters-in-law, Mary (Eugene) Mood of Far Rockaway, NY, Helen Bracey, Alfreda (Joseph) Gause, and Molly (Robert) Cunningham; a brother-in-law, Tommy (Susie) Jackson of the city; special cousins of Charlotte, NC; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 12:30pm from Union Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 12:30pm on Tuesday at the Church. The family would like to send a special thank you to the Eighth Floor Nursing Staff at Forsyth Medical Center: Renee and Michella, Dr. Graham, and Dr. English.
