Obituary

Susanna "Lil Sue" Roseborough was born Susanna Francine Littles to the late Lucy Reaves Littles and Benjamin Littles on July 23, 1932 in Richland County, SC. The fifth child of eleven siblings, Susanna was raised by her Aunt Sue in Winston-Salem where she attended city schools, graduating from Atkins High School in 1952. That same year she married her high school sweetheart, the late Pride Walker Roseborough and immediately started their family. Several years and four children later, Susanna earned a degree from Winston-Salem State College in 1964 and started her career in education as a teacher first at Columbia Heights Elementary and moving on to Griffith Elementary where she taught second and fourth grade until her retirement in 1996.
She was a beloved member of Mars Hill Missionary for over 55 years in which she tirelessly served on various church auxiliaries including Missionary, Sunday School, Ladies Working Society, Deaconess Board, and Vocal Choir. Susanna was the first young adult director for Mars Hill Missionary Department and a former Group 1 District 4 chair of the Women's Baptist Home and Foreign Missionary Convention. With her signature sayings of "God Bless" and "Good morning merry sunshine," Susanna touched the lives of many people in the community through her work and devotion to help others.
Susanna and Pride also enjoyed helping to organize and attend numerous Reese and Marshall family reunions. Their blissful union lasted 53 years until his death in 2005. Shortly thereafter, she received the dreaded diagnosis of Alzheimer's and so began "the long goodbye."
Left to cherish her precious memory are her sons, Reginal (Robyn) Roseborough and Roger (Vickie) Roseborough of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Rhonda Roseborough Woods of Winston-Salem and Rita (Pierre) Roseborough Cromartie of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12Noon Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Mars Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12Noon on Tuesday at the church.
The family of Susanna Roseborough acknowledges with grateful appreciation your thoughts and prayers and ask that in lieu of flowers a donation to Alzheimer's in her honor is suggested. A local agency is the Alzheimer's Adult Day Center, 231 Melrose Street, Winston-Salem, NC.
