Obituary

Suffragan Bishop William Edward Koger, the third of six children, was born on October 5, 1937 to the union of John Theodore Koger and Eva Mae Mitchell. As a child, Suffragan Bishop Koger accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized in water, later receiving the full baptism of the Holy Ghost. He was educated in the WS/FC Schools system and was a graduate of the Class of 1956 at Atkins High School.  He later attended Vintage Bible College and Aenon Bible College.

Suffragan Bishop Koger was a machine operator at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, which is now known as Reynolds American Inc., until his retirement after 30 years of service.  While working there, he met his wife Patricia Anne King and they married on June 5,1976. To this union, they share eight children: three boys and five girls.

At an early age, Suffragan Bishop Koger began attending Ishi Pentecostal Temple under the late Bishop Roosevelt Rennick and upon his passing, under his wife, the late Pastor Mamie C. Rennick.  While there, Suffragan Bishop Koger served as a drummer. He was later elevated to a deacon and then to a minister. After serving in various capacities within the ministry, he was again elevated to Assistant Pastor.

Under the leading of the Holy Spirit, Suffragan Bishop Koger birthed Ministries of Truth of the Apostolic Faith Inc. in 1986.  The ministry began in his home on Cheltenham Drive with seven members.  In February of 1987, the ministry moved into its first edifice at 534 Trade Street in downtown Winston Salem, NC.  With continued growth, on July 1, 1990, the ministry held its inaugural service at its new and current location of 145 Alice Street. In February 1993, the ministry became an active affiliate of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW).  In 1995, Suffragan Bishop Koger was consecrated into the office of District Elder.  In 2006, he was consecrated into the office of Suffragan Bishop. Suffragan Bishop Koger's faithful service to ministry spanned 46 years, with 29 years serving as Senior Pastor.  He retired from the pastorate in November of 2014 but never stopped preaching, teaching, and working for the Lord.

Suffragan Bishop Koger was a true man of God who was full of wisdom, understanding, love, and compassion.  He enjoyed singing and spending time with his immediate family and church family.  Regardless of your age, Suffragan Bishop Koger made people feel loved as one of his own.  He enjoyed working in the garden and was a blessing to those who he encountered.  He poured into people with his time, dedication, finances, and especially the word of God.

Bishop Koger leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Patricia King Koger; children, Kimborah (Shellay) Jiles, Dwayne Koger, Monte (Billy) Dixon, Felicia Pierce, Derraine (Rudell) Wilson, Patrick (Nicole) King, Terra Koger, Pastor William L.
