Stanley Witherspoon, known as "Spoon", passed away peacefully Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was employed by Lentz Transfer and Storage Company for more than 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie and George Witherspoon, Sr.; and his brother, George Witherspoon, Jr.
He is survived by his brother, William Witherspoon; sister, Elizabeth Burgess; nieces, Renea Witherspoon, Lillie Williams, and Lashonda Fries; nephew, Christopher (Kathy) Witherspoon; aunts, Flavella Campbell, Lovie Cooper, Lucille Jones, Sarah McConnell, and Annie Mae McConnell; one uncle, Jack (Jane) McConnell; three grand-nieces; many cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 12:30pm on Thursday at the Church.
