On Friday, September 12, 2025, God dispatched his Angels to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist to pick up his child, Shirley Settle Spease to take her heavenly home.  Family was always a priority for her and loved to spend time with her grandkids and family always with a smile on her face and in her heart.

Mrs. Shirley Settle Spease's sunrise was on July 4, 1950 in Winston-Salem to the late Theodore and Lurenda Settle.  Shirley was a graduate of Central His School located in Winston-Salem, NC.  She worked in Bethlehem Day Care Center for over 30 years before retiring.  Shirely was a devoted caregiver for her late son, Jacques "Peddy" Settle.  Shirley was a member of Abundant Life Christian Ministries.  She was an advocate for the community.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; son, Peddy; sisters, Barbara Rice and Malinda Nicholson; and brother, Donald Settle.

Shirley memories will forever be cherished by her loving family including three daughters, Beverly Settle, Dionne Settle, and Jawanna Spease all of Winston-Salem, NC; six (6) grandchildren, Latia Settle, Natisha Settle, Whitney Fowler, Jaleel Spease, Jamel Spease, and Jalisa Spease all of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of other family members and friends whom she loved and loved her.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, September 19, 2025 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Friday at the Chapel.
