Obituary

Shirley M. Correll entered this life on January 24, 1940 and departed into eternal rest on April 6, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Carrie M. Moore. Shirley was a high school graduate of the Wilkes County Public School System and McLean Business School. She was employed by AT&T, Hanes Hosiery, and Lee Jeans.

Shirley was a devoted member of Carver Road Church of Christ. She attended worship services, Ladies' events, Bible classes, VBS, and was a dedicated member of the Bereavement committee.

In addition to her mother Carrie, Shirley was preceded in death by her step-father, James Moore Sr. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 60 years, Johnny Correll; daughters, Sonya (Roy) Izzard of Kernersville, NC and Shawn Moncrief of the home; one sister, Rosetta Moore of Jonesville, NC; three brothers, Harvey (Nita) Martin of North Wilkesboro, NC, James (Dorothy) Moore, Jr. of Jonesville, NC, and Jonathan (Billie) Moore of Jonesville, NC; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nine sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Shirley Correll was the epitome of love and served as a constant reminder of true faith in God, pride in your family, and loyalty to your friends. She loved everyone and was very hospitable to anyone who entered her home. Memories of her are full of love and laughter. She will be painfully missed by all who were blessed with the privilege of knowing her.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 6:00pm Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home. Private services will be held Monday, April 12, 2021. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
