Sherwood Wayne Paige, 49, departed this life on Tuesday September 18, 2007 at Hospice Palliative Care after a brief illness. He was born in Asheville, North Carolina on December 16, 1957 to John Jacob Paige and Bessie Mae Rushing. Mr. Paige retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant after twenty-two years of service. He was employed by Forsyth County Sheriff's Department as a Detention Officer at the time of his death. Mr. Paige was also a volunteer at Reynolds Park Golf Course.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by wife, Eugenia Denise Paige of Winston-Salem, NC; daughter, Nneka Peaches Paige of Winston-Salem, NC; one son, Adero Wayne Paige of Springfield, VA; two sisters, Patricia (Harry) Roberts and Bessie Paige of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother, John (Robin) Paige of Baltimore, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 am Monday, September 24, 2007 from the First Baptist Church, 700 Highland Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC with Bishop Todd Fulton officiating and Chaplain Glenn Davis eulogist. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11am on Monday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the "Sherwood Wayne Paige Scholarship Fund" on behalf of his daughter at SunTrust Bank (2801 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106).
