Shelia Laverne Howard Moore unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2020. Shelia was born on January 25, 1948 and was the seventh of nine children born to the late Lawrence S. Starks, Sr. and Cora Lee Harris Starks in Winston-Salem, NC.
She graduated from Atkins High School where she was a proud majorette. After high school, she briefly attended NCCU and eventually received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology/Social Work.
Shelia briefly worked as a teacher with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System until she found her true calling as a social worker in Forsyth County. She was employed with the Department of Social Services for an outstanding 39 years!
Preceding her in death were her parents, Lawrence S. Starks, Sr. and Cora Lee Starks; her loving husband of 35 years, Reginald B. Moore, Sr.; her sisters, Lois Graham, Loretta Allen, Gloria DeVane, and Claudette McCoy; and her brothers, Lawrence Starks, Jr. "Chip" and Arnold Howard "Sack".
Surviving are her devoted children, Pamela (Tim) Moore-Parrott, Phillip (Shiron) Durr, and Reginald B. Moore, Jr.; the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Julian Moore, Javon and Emoni McAllister; her caring sister, Phyllis Starks and brother, Melvin (Angela) Howard; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Russell Funeral Home. Private services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2020. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
