Minister Sharon Campbell Terry was born March 10, 1949 to the late Isaac Aldridge and Rachael Campbell. After a lengthy illness, Minister Terry entered into eternal rest to be with the Lord on October 22, 2013. She was a graduate of Anderson High School class of 1967, of Winston-Salem City Schools. After high school, Minister Terry went on to a long career at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company from which she retired.
Minister Terry was a loving mother and devoted wife of 42 years to the late James Willie Terry Sr. and of this union came forth 4 beautiful children. She invested years of her life, time and resources imparting in the life of others financially, and spiritually becoming a "mother" to many.
Minister Terry was very active in the community in an evangelistic capacity. Often times she would find people of the community that were in need, and would meet those needs while sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was very dedicated to serving others and showing love to those who often experienced rejection. Minister Terry was very dedicated to jail ministry. She served God faithfully until her called her home. Minister Terry served for many years at Second New Bethel Baptist Church, True Temple Holiness Church, New Faith Chapel and finally Exodus Baptist Church, until her health declined and she was no longer able to attend.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Rachael Campbell of Winston-Salem, NC ; mother and father-in-law, Martha and Leroy Terry of Winston-Salem, NC ; two sons, James Willie Terry Jr. (Robin) and Christopher Terry both of Winston-Salem; NC, two daughters, Tanya (Pastor Larry) Brown of Greensboro, NC, and Linsetta Dodd of Winston-Salem, NC; four precious grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard Campbell of Winston-Salem, NC and Pastor Lucius Campbell (Diane) of Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Thompson (Pete) and Gloria Terry both of Winston-Salem, NC; three brothers-in-law, Tony Terry, Derwin Terry (Ann) both of Winston-Salem, NC, and Calvin Terry (Patricia) of Lexington, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services for Minister Terry will take place at 1pm Monday October 28, 2013 at Exodus Baptist Church, 2000 Wilber Street, Winston-Salem, NC. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Monday at the Church.
