Mrs. Sharon Yvonne Payne Coggins, 57 of 445 West 26th Street, Winston-Salem, NC passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, October 5, 2008.
She was born June 25, 1951 to David and Katie Payne. She was a graduate of Paisley High School. She retired from Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center as a dietary supervisor in 2001 and recently was employed by Piedmont Home Health Care. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she was a former member of the SBC Gospel Choir and was Chaplain of the S & K Classic Ladies Family Club.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roosevelt Coggins; two brothers, David Payne Duncan, Sr. and Ronald Payne; one sister, Rosalyn Payne; and an adoptive sister, Bessie Lyles.
She leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Anthony (Tyra) Stephens of Reidsville, NC, Dwight (Sabrina Thompson) Stephens and Jerod Stephens of the home; one daughter, Anita Boyd McNeill; ten loving grandchildren; five devoted sisters, Mary P. (Milton) Jones of Philadelphia, PA, Lillian Banner, Jackie Payne (Willie) Brooks, Sophia Payne (Thomas) Drake, and Katrina Payne; one brother, Reverend Karl (Bobbietta) Payne; a devoted sister-in-law, Ida Duncan of Winston-Salem, NC; two sisters-in-law, Vivian Smith Payne of Winston-Salem, NC and Mary Alborn Brown New York; one brother-in-law, Charlie Coggins of Charleston, SC; three aunts, Edith Payne and Marthola Payne of Winston-Salem, NC and Nettie Davis of Long Island, NY; one uncle, George Baldwin of Winston-Salem, NC; a devoted cousin, James Davis of Long Island, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, October 11, 2008 from the Shiloh Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Paul A. Lowe, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from Noon until 1pm on Saturday at the Church.
