Ms. Sharon Elizabeth Hughes, 40, of 7802 Lewis Chapel Circle, Apt. 304, Lorton, VA and formerly of Winston-Salem, NC passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2007 at the Potomac Hospital, Woodbridge, VA. She was a native of Winston-Salem, NC, born on November 29, 1966, the daughter of Carolyn Helena "BOOTSIE" Hauser Hughes and Robert Hughes, Sr.

She attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, was a 1984 graduate of East Forsyth High School and a 1988 graduate of Winston-Salem State University. While living in Winston-Salem she was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church and attended Union Baptist Church. In Virginia she was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Arlington, VA.

Sharon was a former employee of Forsyth County/Department of Social Services and was currently employed as a case manager for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Dispute Resolution, Washington, DC.

Sharon was preceded in death by her grandmother, Frances Elizabeth Hauser and her mother, Carolyn Helena "BOOTSIE" Hauser Hughes.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Tyler J. Hughes; her father, Robert Hughes, SR.; her brother, Robert Hughes, Jr.; devoted cousins, Elaine Black Heath of Springfield, VA, Donald (Pauline) Benson of Kernersville, NC and Veronica Black "SNOOTIE" of Scales of Winston-Salem, NC; special devoted friends, Mia (Gregory) Parker of Winston-Salem, NC, Jackie Foxx of Wilmington, NC and Waltrunette Gardner of Olney, Maryland; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of the Russell Funeral Home with Elder Timothy Lyons officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:00 NOON until 1:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. The family may be contacted at the home of a cousin, Veronica "SNOOTIE" Scales, 1009 East 18th Street, Winston-Salem, NC. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing of her remains.
