Obituary

Deacon Selmon Johnson Green, of 5287 Silas Creek Parkway, departed this life on Monday, January 16, 2007. He was born on September 10, 1925 in Darlington, South Carolina to Eddie, Sr. and Leebell Green.

Deacon Green was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Public School System. He was a Brick Mason by trade and a retired employee of Hennis Freight Lines. He was affectionately known to many as "BUBSY" or "UNCLE BUBSY". He was loved by everyone and was known for his dedicated Christian service and his love for the Lord.

Deacon Green was a long time member of the Macedonia True Vine Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons and a member of the Senior Choir. He later moved his membership to New Hope Holiness Church in Lexington, NC where he served as a member on the Board of Deacons.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Deacon Green leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 61 years, Mrs. Connie Manning Green; six children, Patricia Green of the home, Bishop Selmon T. Green (Shirley) Green of Lexington, NC, Doris Harris, Reginald and Adrian Green all of Winston-Salem, NC, and Christopher Green of Fayetteville, NC; a devoted spiritual son, Donald (Odessa) Scales; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 12 noon from the Macedonia Worship Center with Apostle S. D .Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 12 noon on Saturday at the Church.
