Ms. Selma Simmons went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the J Paul Sticht Center, Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born June 8, 1955 in Macon, GA to Lucille Simmons-Clark and Cornelius Simmons.
She attended New Hope Baptist Church until her failing health.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her mother; two daughters, Tangula (Malik) Simmons-Mumin, and Nkechi Simmons; five grandchildren, DeQuan Hurst, Antonio Booe, Jr., Jaleel and Aliyah Muhammad and Nasir Mumin; three sisters, Lucille (Zalinor) Banks, Karen (Kenneth) Bess, and Dorothy Simmons of Winston-Salem, NC; five brothers, Cornelius Simmons, Jr. of Macon, GA, Carlton (Jean) Simmons of Virginia Beach, VA, Larry (Belinda) Simmons, Walter (Vena) Simmons and Nathaniel Clark of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 12 Noon Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop John C. Parks officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 11 am until 12 Noon Tuesday at the church.
