Mrs. Selena Artanzia Nails-Samuels was born August 8, 1967 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Roosevelt Frederick Nails, Jr. and Latha Sonia Crawford-Nails and loving mother-in-law, the late Betty Wilkins.
She attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and graduated from Parkland High School. Selena was employed at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for 20 plus years until her health started to decline.
On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Selena transitioned to an eternal peace after a short battle with cancer, surrounded with love by her bedside. In 1984, Selena who was known by family and friends as "Lena" met the love of her life, Carlton, but we know him as "Cotton." Who would have thought these two teenagers that was in the same place at the same time, North Hills Recreation Center would later on become one. From that union her pride and joy, "Punkin" as she called him would steal her heart. Lena enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sister whenever time would allow. Her hobbies were fishing, cooking, using that green thumb of hers, and taking family vacations with her husband.
Selena leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband of 22 years, Carlton Lamont Samuels; her son, Sierras "Punkin" Samuels; sisters, Linda (Danny) Lewis, Dianna Williams, and Monyca Mychelle Nails (Greg); brothers, Lamard Defre' Crawford (Kathy), Frederick Darrell Nails, and Kenneth Tyrone Nails; loving and supportive father in-law, Hurbert Lee Samuels; sisters-in-law, Peggy Conrad, Karen Gray (Marvin), and Lisa Hines; brothers-in-law, Darrell, Gary, and Rodney Samuels; with a host of other relatives and friends. To know Selena was to love her.
