On November 15, 2017 a heart of gold stopped beating. God took Selena H. Nichols into His loving care for a rest well earned.
Mrs. Selena Nichols was born in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Robert and Alberta Hemphill. Her husband, Joseph Nichols, Sr.; son, Joseph Nichols, Jr.; and brothers, Robert H. and Henry A. Hemphill, along with her parents, helped the Lord prepare a place for her.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her loving daughter, Sylvia and dedicated son-in-law, Michael Conrad who was her primary caretaker upon her return home; two devoted grandchildren, Mychal and Meisha Conrad; great-grandchildren, Ar'Monni, Brielle, and Dylan; a devoted nephew, Ronald (Barbara) Hemphill; a loving niece, Joyce Hemphill Brayboy; three first cousins, Jacqueline and Willie Jean Cook, and Claudette Cook-Womack; several extended family members, her church family, and many cherished friends and neighbors.
In celebration of Mrs. Nichols' life, funeral services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at First Baptist Church (Highland Avenue) with Rev. Paul Robeson Ford officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The Omega Omega Service will be conducted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. at 9:30am on Tuesday at the Church followed by the family visitation from 10:00am until 11:00am.
Selena lived by the
Golden Rule
, so do a loving act of kindness; make someone laugh, send a card, give a hug, or say, "I care" in her memory.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church (Highland Avenue), John Davis Memorial Library.
The family extends a special "thank you" to Hospice & Palliative Care of Winston-Salem and the staff of Forest Heights Senior Living Community, especially the staff of the facility's Bridge to Rediscovery unit for providing a safe and nurturing environment where Selena had a positive life experience despite dementia. BLESSINGS TO ALL OF YOU!
