Sarah Elizabeth Jenkins Boone was born on May 23, 1928, in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late Richard and Mattie Jenkins. On February 9, 2022, she departed this life peacefully in Brunswick, Ohio.

Sarah was educated in the Norfolk, VA Public School System and furthered her education at Little State College, now known as Norfolk State University. Sarah worked as a Medical Records Technician at Kate Bitting Reynolds Memorial Hospital, the 3rd largest hospital for African Americans in the United States. She retired from Novant Health, formerly Forsyth Hospital.

A Loving Wife, Devoted Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin, and loyal Friend -- Sarah Elizabeth Boone is survived by her husband of 71 years, Rudolph V. Boone Sr.; her children, Rudolph V. Boone Jr. (Renee) and Sharon Elizabeth Boone; Grandchildren, Alicia Le'Von Jean-Noel (Herman) and Khori Michelle Petinaud (Wayne); Great Grandchildren, Indigo Kaua'i Jean-Noel and Carver Elijah Petinaud; She was preceded in death by her only brother, Richard Jenkins, Jr.

Sarah was a faithful member of Grace Presbyterian Church and served in many ministries prior to her illness. Always full of joy, Sarah loved singing in the choir at Grace Presbyterian Church and with the Voice of God's Children Ensemble, working in the yard, taking care of her home, and exchanging recipes with her best friend, Billie Marie Matthews. While caring for her family, Sarah was also an avid volunteer in the community supporting important organizations like Crisis Control.

A viewing will be held from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm Friday, February 25, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.

A family visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, February 25, 2022 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 3901 Carver School Rd, Winston-Salem, NC, 27105.

COVID-19 protocols will be in place.

The family will hold a private funeral service on Saturday, February 26, 2022. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
