Obituary

Mrs. Sarah Carpenter, 44, of 4217 Rosa Street, Winston-Salem, NC entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on March 9, 1962, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Willie and Ethel Brown.

She was educated in the public schools of New Hanover County. At an early age, she joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She later became a member of Fellowship United Church where she served as the Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director, President of the Missionary Group and Secretary of the Missionary Board for the United Holy Church Western NC District. She was also very active in the community being a member of Sister Speak, Relay for Life, and an Advocate for Women's health issues. She loved her Church and helped in any capacity that she could.

Mrs. Carpenter was a very strong family oriented person who loved her husband and children very dearly. She was a Christian woman that was virtuous and seen that all the needs of her family were met. She loved to sing and was a strong prayer warrior, who really loved the Lord and served Him diligently.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Willie N. Brown.

Loved ones who will cherish her memories include her loving and devoted husband, Mr. Wayne Carpenter of Winston-Salem, NC; one son, Wayne Carpenter, Jr. of Winston-Salem, NC; two daughters, Stephanie Carpenter and Ethel Carpenter both of Winston-Salem, NC; one step daughter, Samara Blackwell of Rock Island, IL; one granddaughter, Chasity Westburg; her parents, Willie and Ethel Brown of Wilmington, NC; four sisters, Grace Brown, Evelyn (Larry) Lee, and LaHonda (Richard) Johnson all of Wilmington, NC, and LaTanya (Timothy) Gainey of Orangeburg, SC; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Beal and Wilma Carpenter both of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother-in-law, William Carpenter of Winston-Salem, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at 3:00 pm from the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Elder Greg Hargrave officiating and Elder John Choate, Jr. as the eulogist. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 2:30 pm until 3:00 pm on Sunday at the Church.
