Sandra Bell (Turner) Jones, 60, of Winston Salem, NC passed away on January 23, 2021 after battling COVID-19.

Sandra, the youngest of three, was born on September 25, 1960 to Janie Pearl Timmons and LC Turner in Mobile, AL, and immediately brought joy and laughter into the world.  After graduating from Toulminville High School in 1978, she went on to study criminal justice at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.

After graduation, Sandra landed her first job working as a probation officer for the Wayne County Juvenile Court.  Shortly afterwards, Sandra returned to Wayne State University to pursue her masters in Counselor Education with a concentration in Substance Abuse Counseling.

In 1983, Sandra met Rodney Jones on a blind date, and it was a match made in heaven.  The two became inseparable and wed on November 8, 1986 in Detroit, MI.  Sandra and Rodney were married for 34 years and had one daughter, Shannon Noelle Jones. Sandra was a fiercely dedicated mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend.  Whenever she walked into a room, the quality of the environment improved greatly.  Sandra was magical with her laugh, her smile and especially her humor.

Sandra was predeceased by her father LC Turner; her maternal grandmother, Josephine Holloway; and her paternal grandparents, Arthur and Lula Bell Turner.  She is survived by her husband, Rodney and daughter, Shannon of the home; her mother, Janie Timmons of Detroit, MI; her brother, Henry (Angie) Timmons of Centerline, MI; her sister, Cynthia (Dave) Gordon of Soso, MS; her brother-in-law, Ernest (Alva) Jones of Southfield, MI; her sister-in-law, Sheron (Randy) Walker of Champaign, IL; her brother-in-law, Marlin (Pam) Jones of Detroit, MI; and her brother-in-law, Marvin (Patty) Jones of Colorado Springs, CO.

Sandra will be missed but not forgotten.  We were all better people due to having Sandra in our lives.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, February 5, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.

Private funeral services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
