Obituary

Samuel E. Kearse, Sr. was born on December 18, 1926 and quietly entered the gates of heaven on July 12, 2011. He was born in Rockingham, NC to David Hammond Kearse, Sr. and Isadora O. Kearse.
"Sam" attended Atkins High School and proudly served in the US Army. He retired from US Repeating Arms in New Haven, CT after serving 43 years. He was a faithful member of United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, NC. He loved the game of golf since his childhood. He was a Charter and Lifelong member of the Knickerbocker Golf Club, Inc. and the Ashanti Golf Club, both of New Haven, CT.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 63 years, Bernice S. Kearse; his daughter, Brenda E. Kearse; brothers, I. Logan Kearse, James A. Kearse, David H. Kearse, Jr., and John B. Kearse; and sisters, Abby Rose Kearse and Emma L. Kearse.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Samuel E. Kearse, Jr. and Terry L. Kearse (Betty); his daughter, Beverly A. Kearse; three grandsons, Kenneth D. Moye (Marilyn), Keith D. Moye, and Brandon A. Kearse; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Prince Raney Rivers officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Church.
