Obituary

Mr. Samuel Isaiah, Jr. was born October 24, 1932 in Winston-Salem, NC to Samuel and Lillie Isaiah, Sr. He departed this earthly life on October 21, 2016 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was educated in the local public schools and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Isaiah was employed in several careers including taxi cab driving, Merita Bread Company, RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, and the City of Pittsburg. He was a member of Christ Rescue Temple Apostolic Church where he sang with a gospel group and he enjoyed riding bicycles and collecting coins.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Elijah Isaiah and Daniel Barkley; wives, Barbara Isaiah and Blanche Isaiah; daughter, Alexis Isaiah; step-son, Roland Council; grandson, Dominique Wilson; and a great-grandson, Tito Crew.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Reverend Sharon Isaiah, Rhonda Council, Karen Crew, Kathy Council, Loretta Council, Reverend Derwin Isaiah, Emmanuel Wilson, Alexander Isaiah, Thomas Council, Gregory Council, Karl Council, and Michael Council; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, John (Gwen) Barkley; sister, Treva (Ben) Censhaw; devoted friends, Reverend Oscar Lee Grant and Kelly Gray; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Derwin Isaiah officiating and Bishop Willie Davis, Jr. eulogist. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Friday at the Chapel.
