Obituary

Mr. Samuel Johnson Brown, Jr. affectionately known as "Cadillac Sam" of 3 West 28th Street passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Brown was a highly decorated Korean War Veteran, and received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for acts of bravery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Bessie Wilkes Brown of Chester, SC; two brothers, John Henry and David Arthur Brown.

He is survived by three daughters, Sharon Brown O'Neal, Joanne (Carlton) Brown Johnson, and Sandra (Shelton) Brown Foster all or Winston-Salem, NC; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; he leaves to mourn a devoted nephew, Ernest (Annette) Squire; cousin, Rose Harrell; ex-spouse, Gladys G. Brown, Bessie and Henry Massey; a special friend, Sheila; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Homegoing services for Mr. Brown will be held at Noon Tuesday, November 17, 2009 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11am until Noon on Tuesday at the funeral home.
