Mr. Samson Shipp, Jr. left this earthly world on August 30, 2013 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 25, 1932 to Samson Shipp, Sr. and Lillian Hall Shipp. He attended Atkins High School and was a lifelong resident of Winston Salem. He served in the Army during the Korean War. After the Army, he held various jobs: R J Reynolds machine operator, Winston Salem Journal carrier and WSFC school custodian. Mr. Shipp was a member of Bivouac Lodge #530.



Mr. Shipp was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Sandra Shipp; sister, Juanita Shipp; and wife of 37 years, Hazel Gwyn Shipp. From this union he leaves his son, Larry Shipp; daughter, Shinita Shipp Wrenwick; granddaughters, Rhasan Shipp, Zajun Shipp, Sydney Wrenwick; great-granddaughter, Sienna Jackson; he leaves lifelong friends in the church and community; and a host of relatives and friends.



Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Nathan E. Scovens officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 1pm until 2pm on Thursday at Galilee MBC.
