Mrs. Ruthie Mae Jones was born in Youngstown, OH on January 10, 1940. On August 14, 2008 after a short period of illness, she found her peace.
Mrs. Jones, also known to family and friends as, "Dr. Ruth", "The Banker", and "Ruthie" was raised in Winston-Salem, NC and was a registered songwriter, Bible Scholar, authoress of numerous poems, gourmet cook, accountant, a "walking" medical encyclopedia, and horticulturalist.
Ruthie was preceded n death by her mother, Vary Lee Virginia Catuns; two sons, the eldest, Harry Lee Jones, Jr. and the youngest, Terrence Arthur Jones.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Harry Lee Jones, Sr.; four children, Melanie Gibert, Jeanene (Rodney) McCormick, Jeanette Jones all of Winston-Salem, NC and Michael (Barbara) Jones of Greensboro, NC; one sister, Naomi (Willie) Singletary of Winston-Salem, NC; nine grandchildren, Malarkus (Michelle) Jones, James Gibert, III, Rosalyn Jones, Elester Coleman, Cedric Jones, Vary McCrae, Dashawn Robinson, Terry Lynn Rice, and Rodney McCormick; five great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; beloved cousins, Clara Hauser, Linda Mitchell, Clatis and James McClinton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, August 18, 2008 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Vera S. Wonsley officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Monday at the Chapel.
