Obituary
Mrs. Ruth S. Winfield, known to family and friends as "Mother Ruth" of 831 Rich Ave., Winston-Salem, NC was born in Lancaster, SC to Richard and Amy Shannon on December 14, 1921. She departed this life on March 18, 2008 at home. She was a faithful member of Cornerstone Faith Ministries, where she was the Mother of The Church.
She was also a former member of Hanes Creative Club, the Inspirational Chorus of Hanes CME Church, a retired Household Technician of New York City, and a Chore Provider of Forsyth County Department of Social Services.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 32 years, Lester Winfield; foster son, Steven Thompson; and was the guardian of William "Lucky" Smith; a devoted friend, Ms. DeLois Rader, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Cornerstone of Faith Ministries with the Rev. Calvin Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 1 pm Saturday at the church.
