Mrs. Ruth Mae Mangus was born July 7, 1944 in Stokes County, NC to the late Irea Smith and the late Doretha Simmons Smith. She was a widow of the late Donald A. Mangus, Sr. She departed this life on Sunday, August 2, 2020.
For many years she was a seamstress at Indera Mills until she retired. She was a faithful member of Divine Restoration Ministries, were the Apostle Michelle McCormick is pastor and founder.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Mangus; her parents, Irea Smith and Doretha Simmons Smith; her sisters, Alberta L. Brannon and Idola Covington; her brothers, James T.Smith, Mark M. Smith, and Carl Thomas.
She leaves to cherish her memories two loving daughters, Prophetess Victoria (Bernard) Gay, Sr. of Winston-Salem, NC and Elder Donice (Rodrecus) Anthony of Suffolk, VA; one devoted sister, Dorothy Mitchell of Rural Hall, NC; six grandchildren, Lynneice Mangus, Lateisha (Eric) Lattimore, and Bernard Gay, Jr. all of Winston-Salem, NC, Toquise (Vernon) Davis, Jr. and Tashika Mangus -Anthony both of Virginia Beach, VA, and Tyshaun Anthony of Suffolk, VA; her two spiritual grandsons, Gabriel Carter and John Carter Jr. both of Suffolk, VA; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Russell Funeral Home.
Private services will be held Thursday, August 6, 2020. Interment will follow in the Simmons Family Cemetery, Westfield, NC.
