Redeemed, child of God, Ms. Ruby Duncan Johnson, 72, went home to be with the LORD on Thursday, June 18, 2015. Ruby was born September 25, 1942 in W-S, NC.
She attended the historic Atkins High School, and furthered her education by completing the Master's level- holding a degree in Law, Psychology, and Criminal Science. She served Society as a Special Deputy for Forsyth County as a Campus Police Officer for WSSU and Wake Forest University for many years. She served the Community as a mentor, a friend, a motherly figure, and an example of strength to all who knew her. Ms. Johnson served her Neighborhood as a 37 year resident of "Cherry View", whose kitchen table has been visited by many over the years. She served her Fellow-man as a thoughtful care-giver, who expressed her love by investing her time and talents into those who stood in need. She served her Family as the anchor who "didn't play"…but knew how to be "playful" holding her family together with a quiet strength, the fruit of which is the legacy she leaves behind. She served her God as a born again believer, ministering through the Pastors Aid Committee, Missionary Board, Mother's Board, and singing on the Praise Team. She was a faithful member of the United Deliverance Church of God since its foundation.
"Ms. Ruby" loved to cook, travel, and take care of her five birds and three beloved dogs…Lizzy, Tracy, and Casey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Susie Duncan; and 1 sister, Susie "Anne" Johnson.
She is survived by 6 children, Rhonda Johnson, Dr. Johnny Johnson (Dawn), April Lynn Hairston (Aaron), Dwan Johnson (Mona), Shaara "Puddin" Leach, and Shannon J Jessup (Shannon); 1 Godson, Shawn Valentine; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
