At the age of 3, her family moved to W-S, where she attended school and graduated from Atkins High School.
She married Johney "J.W." Wray Ford, January 5, 1940. From this union a daughter, Deborah Venita Ford Sims was born. Rosie was a loving, nurturing mother to her beloved daughter. The loving couple opened their family to Marjorie Montgomery (Clyde) Clark and son Dexter (Pamela) Montgomery.
She and her husband owned and operated businesses on 14 th street in East Winston, The Little Rose Garden Café, The Barn Door Grocery Store and The Little Rose Superette. For a short period of time they owned a grill on the bustling Third Street of downtown W- S.
Mrs. Ford joined Grace Presbyterian Church after marrying her husband in 1940. She was active in the choir and Presbyterian Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings, Alexander Massey, Sallie Clarke, Mattie Martin, and Thomas Massey.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Deborah Ford Sims, of W–S; grandchildren, Asha Sims, Shon (Omayra) Sims, Jae (Shefaye) Sims of Charlotte, and John Roddy of W-S; 5 great-grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; a sister-in-law, Parphinia Ford; and many special loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Grace Presbyterian Church, W-S, NC. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Saturday at the Church.
